Dr. Marjan Yaghmaie was born in 1979 in Tehran. She completed her graduate and postgraduate training in Molecular and Cellular Biology at Tehran University, from which she graduated with honors in 2004. She then earned her PhD with honors in Medical Genetics in 2011 from Tarbiat Modares University. Dr. Yaghmaie completed her PhD dissertation at Klinik und proklinik IIIGrosshadern hospital Mediziniche, Munich University with the cooperation of the Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation Research Center, and then pursued one year of training in advanced cytogenetics including construction of Sequencing Libraries for next-generation sequencing and cloning of FISH probs. Since 2013, she has been serving as a director of Hematology and Oncology Laboratory at the Research Center.
In her sabbatical leave as a Visiting Research scholar at University of Washington, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Saettle, US, she visited the Molecular and Cytogenetics Laboratories of the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), University of Washington (UW),from Oct 2018 to March 23, 2019, under the supervision of Prof Fang in order to become familiar with state-of-the-art technologies in the field of cancer diagnosis. Becoming familiar with the Clinical Research Division of Fred Hutch including the Inpatient and Outpatient Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation (HCT)/Immunotherapy Services and the Long-Term Follow-up Group under supervision of Prof Rainer Storb. She worked on a CLL research project with Prof Fang and an ovarian cancer project in Dr Rosana Risques’ lab at Pathology department of UW and a project on MRD in AML with Prof Eli Estey and Prof Fang at Fred Hutch. She also published a paper with Prof Cecilia Yueng.
She also serves as the representative of the science collaboration board of Iran with faculty members in USA &Canada at TUMS.
